Constance "Connie" (Varner) Johnson

Mrs. Constance Varner “Connie” Johnson of Chadbourn, NC, passed away on Friday, June 3, 2022, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Connie was born on March 6, 1946, in Toccoa, Georgia. After graduating from Royston High School in 1964, Connie went on to study home economics at the University of Georgia. Upon graduation from college, Connie began a teaching career. In 1964, she met William Eugene Johnson, Jr. “Johnny”. The two were married on December 22, 1966. The pair went on to have three children; Jennifer, Susan, and Will.

Connie retired at the age of 62, after a 25-year career as a home economics teacher at West Columbus High School. Following retirement, Connie spent time traveling, enjoying her grandchildren, and knitting.

Connie was preceded in death by her son, William Eugene Johnson, III “Will” and her parents, Wayne & Dorothy Varner.

She is survived by her husband, Johnny; two daughters, Jennifer Johnson Edwards (Matt) and Susan Hudspeth (Donald); seven grandchildren, Colt Johnson, Ozzly Johnson, Kayley Johnson, Noah Burton, Willy Johnson, Ella Hudspeth, and Lily Hudspeth, and her sister, Carolyn Parks.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at the Chadbourn Presbyterian Church with Reverend Dr. Joseph D. Washburn officiating.  The family will receive friends following the the service.
