Claudia (Shackelford) Ward

Claudia Shackleford Ward, age 85 of Whiteville, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, February 17, 2021, at her residence, with her family by her side.

Claudia was born on May 17, 1935, in Conway, SC, to the late Robert John and Emma Bell Sarvis Shackelford. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, and faithful friend of 64 years, Rossie H. Ward; stepmother, France R. Shackleford; sister, Carolyn Fales and two grandchildren, Misty Rain Ward and Daniel Ward.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at Worthington Funeral Home with Reverend Junior Tyler officiating. Interment will follow in the Ward Cemetery in the Bethel community of Clarendon.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Claudia graduated from Southeastern Community College with a GED after all her children graduated and left home. She retired after all the sewing plants in the area closed; she was a very skilled seamstress and enjoyed sewing for many years. 

Claudia is survived by her two sons, Edward Earl Ward (Levern) of Whiteville, Michael Rossie Ward (Rosa) of Clarendon, and one daughter, Emma Ward (Murray) of Nakina; grandchildren, Edward Earl Ward, Jr. (Ashley), Westly Edwin Ward, Quentin Christopher Ward (Jessica), Michallia Quinn Ward-Boger (Ralph), Flint Addison Ward (Megan), Michael Rossie Ward, Jr., Adam Ross Ward, Anna Marie Ward; great-grandchildren, Austin, Kaitlyn, Emily, Airlie, Cooper, Rowan, Lea Misty and Connor; sisters, Mary Memory, Annie Judy (David), Bonnie McLaughin, and Barbara Cloyne; brothers, Jimmy Shackelford (Debbie), Harold Shackelford (Bonnie), Robert Shackleford (Sheri), Billy Shackelford (Donna), and many nieces and nephews.
