Clarence "Bud" Gore Obituary

Clarence Lloyd “Bud” Gore, age 83, passed away Monday, August 15 after a brief illness.  Lovingly known as “The Mayor of Smyrna”, he was born October 26, 1938 in Columbus County the son of the late Clarence Alpheus “Ad” Gore and Ada Mable Skipper Gore.  Bud was preceded in death by his loving wife of over 60 years Berneese McPherson Gore and two sisters:  Mary Kate Gore Hyatt and Eloise Gore Bass.

Bud was employed for over 40 years as a fuel delivery driver for T&T Oil Company which later became Campbell Oil Co.  He formed many friendships with his customers who he enjoyed reminiscing about.  He was also a farmer and loved animals.  Bud was very involved in politics at the local and state levels.  Whether it was a chicken bog or barbeque dinner, he was known for the many community gatherings he hosted at the BS Barn.  He honorably served his country in the North Carolina National Guard for over six years.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 18, 2022, in the Smyrna Baptist Church Cemetery, with Pastor Dean Jackson officiating.
