Brenda Gail Hawes Edwards, 77, of the Beaverdam Community, went home to be with Jesus on Saturday evening, December 27, 2025, at Mcleod Seacoast in Little River, SC.

Brenda was born on August 4, 1948, daughter of the late Vinson Hawes, and Theldene Watts Hawes. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Wanda Kay Hawes Long. 

Funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at Beaverdam Original Free Will Baptist Church with Pastor Buddy Seay officiating. Burial will follow in McPherson Cemetery. 

Visitation will be from 1:00-1:45 p.m. prior to the service on Tuesday, at the church.

Brenda held a 30-plus year career in the banking industry and also was a lifelong care-giver, having lovingly taken many people under her wing. 

The surviving family includes her husband, J.P. Edwards; children, Tabatha Chestnutt Miller, Brian Chestnutt (Angela), Rebecca Chestnutt Cribb (Chris); grandchildren, McKenzie Chestnutt (Jordan), Bailey Chesnutt, Gracen Miller, Jenna Cribb; step-sons, Ricky Edwards (Rhonda), and Mike Edwards; brother, Alan Hawes (Lynnette).
