Mr. Bobby Knox Tyler, age 73 of Fayetteville, NC, passed away on May 20, 2010 at the Carrol S. Roberson Hospice Center in Fayetteville, NC. He was born in Lumberton, NC, August 24, 1936, son of the late Hazel Johnson and Wilbur Tyler. He was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Rita Barbee Tyler. Mr. Tyler was a veteran of the United States Navy, and he retired in 2009 from a Civil Service position at the Womack Hospital at Ft. Bragg, NC. Surviving are his sisters-in-law, Ruby Barbee Morris of Chadbourn, Ruth Barbee Russell and her husband, John Q. Russell of Wilmington; cousins, Alvin White and his wife, Debbie of Monterey, TN; many special nephews and nieces, and a special long-time friend of the Tyler family, Dr. Gene Ballard of Black, Alabama. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 23, 2010 at Worthington Funeral Home with Reverend Archie Barringer officiating. Interment will follow in Chadbourn Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Mr. Tyler and his wife, Rita shared an avid love for all animals, and they adopted numerous cats and dogs throughout their lifetime. As a special remembrance for their love and kindness to animals, memorial may be sent to your local Human Society, or to the Sherwood Presbyterian Church, 4857, NC Hwy. 87 S., Fayetteville, NC 28306; or to the Carrol S. Roberson Hospice Center, 2431 Legion Road, Fayetteville, NC 28306. The Bobby Tyler family and the family of his late wife, Rita wish to thank all his friends and neighbors who graciously helped Bobby in many ways during his extended illness.
