Bobbie Mae (Burkhart) Southworth Obituary

Bobbie Mae Burkhart West Southworth, 81, of Tabor City, died peacefully on Monday, February 9, 2026, at the Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Center in Whiteville.


Bobbie was born on April 29, 1944, daughter of the late James E. Burkhart and Jennie Lee Lanning Burkhart. In addition, she was also preceded in death by her husbands, Kenneth West and William “Bill” Southworth; sons-in-law, Russell Wright and Keith Hewett; step-children, Terry Baylor, Johnny West; infant son, Wayne; siblings, Alma, Christine, Danny, Don, Jimmy, Maxine, Tommy, and Wayne.     


The family will hold a private memorial service.


The surviving family includes her children, Kay Bryan (James) of Bladenboro, Jamie Wright of Tabor City, Richard Lyon (Trudy) of Lexington; 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren.  


In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Angel House.
