Betty Turner Obituary

Betty Doris Merritt Turner, age 84 of Evergreen, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday Evening, September 11, 2019 at her residence. Ms. Turner was born on January 28, 1935 in Columbus County to the late George Taylor Merritt and Ovella Parker Merritt. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Monroe Turner; a son, James M. Turner, Jr. and and one sibling, Frank Merritt. Funeral Services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m on Monday, September 16, 2019 at Worthington Funeral Home with Reverend Tommy Fields officiating, with internment following in the Evergreen United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Monday. Ms. Turner was an educator, having taught in the Columbus County Public School System for over 20 years. She also attended the Living Word Church in Chadbourn. Survivors include her daughter, April Turner Gore (Frankie) of Clarendon; son, George Bryan Turner of Bolivia; sister, Sara Bogenreif of Eureka, California; four grandchildren, Grayson W. Gore, Ashley Victoria Turner, Maggie Rhiannon Gore, and Krystal Rose Turner. Memorials may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice Angel House, 206 Warrior Trail, Whiteville, NC 28472.
