Betty Jean Marshall Batten, age 53 of Chadbourn died Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at Columbus Regional Healthcare System in Whiteville. Final rites will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday at Worthington Funeral Home with interment following in the Batten Family Cemetery, Chadbourn. She was the daughter of the late Marvin Aiken and Eva Inman Marshall. She is survived by her husband, Billy Ray Batten of the home; a son, Billy Ray Batten Jr. and wife, Angie of Chadbourn; a daughter, Billie Jo Batten of Chadbourn; brothers, Marvin L. Butch Marshall of Cartersville, GA, Warren Dale Marshall of Orrum, John Charles Marshall of Lenoir, William R. Buddy Marshall of Delta, Colorado and Michael Eric Pete Marshall of Delta, Colorado; sisters, Pamela M. Helms of Pageland, SC, Kathy M. Storie of Lenoir, Mary M. Miller of Monroe, Violet M. Mullis of Oakboro, Delores Gail Mullis of Oakboro, and Lena M. Britt of Fair Bluff; grandchildren, Amber Nicole Hammond, Christian Leann Hammond, Alexandra Kaye Batten, and Dillon Ray Batten.
