Barry Lambert Housend, age 65 of Clarendon, went to be with his Lord on Monday, May 3, 2021 at his home, surrounded by his family.
Barry was born on December 6, 1955, in Loris, SC. He was preceded in death by his father, Jimmy Wilson Housend.
A funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 6, 2021 at Beaverdam Original Free Will Baptist Church with Pastor Buddy Seay officiating. Interment will follow in the Gapway Baptist Church Cemetery, Tabor City.
Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday evening, at Worthington Funeral Home.
Barry was a member of the Williams Township Fire Department, where he served as chief for 13 years. He was employed by the Department of Corrections, where he held the rank of lieutenant, retiring at the Tabor Correctional Institution in 2020. He also served as Treasurer for the Columbus County Fire and Rescue Board; Barry was a Columbus County Shriner of the Sudan Temple and a Master Mason of the Tabor City Lodge, No. 563. He was also currently serving as a board member of the State of Employees Credit Union.
To cherish his memory, Barry leaves behind his wife since 1975, Rhonda Gale Housend of the home; three children, Brandi H. Currie (Kevin) of Lumberton, Brandon Barry Housend of Clarendon, and Jonathan Barrett Housend of Lousiana; mother, Ruth Coleman Harris and husband, Willard, of Chadbourn; siblings, Deborah H. Mathis of Chadbourn, Robin H. Williamson of Whiteville, Dale Coleman (Shelia) of Disputatane, VA; grandchildren, Alissa Housend, Dalton Currie, Hailey Housend, and Adyson Currie.
