Barbara Nelson Obituary

Barbara Ann Milliken Nelson, age 75 of Whiteville, entered into rest on Tuesday Morning, August 6, 2019 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice Angel House in Whiteville, with her beloved family by her side. Barbara was born on December 10, 1943 in Columbus County to the late Claude Lee Milliken and Virginia Dare Norris Milliken. Along with her parents, Barbara was also preceded in death by two children, Mark Kevin Smith and Steven Randolph Nelson; siblings, Paula Faye Boswell, Claudia Nealey, Brenda Jernigan and Roger Milliken. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 9, 2019 at Peace Baptist Church with Pastor Chip Hannah officiating. Interment will follow in the Chadbourn Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00, Thursday evening at Peace Baptist Church in Whiteville. Barbara was a lab Lab Tech in the Textiles Industry, having been employed by National Spinning for 37 years, until her retirement in 2010 Survivors include her beloved husband of 53 years, Allen Henry Nelson, Jr. of the home; one son, Brian Allen Nelson and wife, Christy of Whiteville; two sisters, Diane M. Anderson (Dennis) of Darlington, SC, Wanda "Jeanie" M. Sellers (Robert Mintz) of Chadbourn; three grandchildren, Samantha Nelson Suggs (Justin), Brianna Hope Nelson, and Hampton Snyder; and a special friend and caregiver, Denise Naugle of Bladenboro.
