Barbara Jean Johnson Edwards, 74, of Clarendon went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at her residence, surrounded by her family.

Barbara was born on April 8, 1951, daughter of the late Joseph “JA” Alexander Johnson and Clara Mae Martin Johnson.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Herman Lee Spivey and Ralph Edwards, Jr.; an infant son, Richard Lee Spivey; siblings, Hilda Mae Caddell, Mable Eubanks, Doris Neil Sapp and Lula Belle Fairfax; son-in-law, Billy Jeffries; a granddaughter, Lisa Freeman; and a grandson in law, Chad Pack.

Her funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at Worthington Funeral Home with interment following in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Tabor City.   
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday.

Barbara was a loving and devoted grandmother, known for her gentle heart and nurturing spirit. She had a remarkable gift for caregiving, always putting the needs of her family and others before her own. Her deep sense of empathy and compassion touched the lives of many, as she never hesitated to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Barbara also found great joy in nature—especially in flowers and gardening, which brought her peace and happiness. She had a special fondness for lighthouses and cherished her growing collection.

Barbara is survived by a daughter, Kimberly Spivey Jeffries of Clarendon; siblings, Joseph Johnson of Gibsonville and Johnny Johnson of Clarendon; grandchildren, Kendall Fowler (Haley), Lindsay Esham (Justin), Allison Jeffries, and Tony Jeffries (Jaime); great-grandchildren, Kenley  Fowler, Saylor Fowler, Marlee Fowler, Mason Freeman, Dalton Freeman, Lorraina Jeffries, T.J. Jeffries, Caleb Pack, Claire Pack, Baron Pack, Kylie Pack, Brenden Esham, Damien Esham, Alaric Esham and Billie Esham; sister-in-laws, Maurnice Johnson of Tabor City, Carol McGuire of Danville, VA and Tina Long of Whiteville and many loving nieces and nephews.
