Chadbourn - Mr. Anthony Eugene Gordon, age 78 of Chadbourn died Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at Columbus Regional Healthcare System in Whiteville. He was the son of the late John McDonald Gordon and was preceded in death by four siblings, Earl Ray Gordon, Charles Edward Gordon, Edgar Pete Gordon, and Jimmy Dale Gordon. Mr. Gordon was a veteran serving in the US Army. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 5, 2009 at Worthington Funeral Home with Reverend Roger Strickland and Reverend Thomas Fairfax officiating. Interment will follow in the Horne Cemetery. He is survived by a daughter, Linda G. Ferguson of Port Charlotte, FL; his mother, Ressie Horne Gordon of Chadbourn; three sisters, Emily Faye Cox of Raleigh, Lillian Cookie Elmore of Evergreen, and Brenda Kay Pickard of Louisburg; five brothers, Jesse LJ Gordon of Hamlet, Dalton Gordon, Chadbourn, Kenneth D. Gordon of Chadbourn, John Wayne Gordon of Raleigh, and Tommy Gordon of Chadbourn; two grandchildren. Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. Friday at Worthington Funeral Home in Chadbourn.
