Annie Ruth (Leonard) Duncan

Annie Ruth Leonard Duncan, age 83 of Chadbourn, went on to be with her Lord on Wednesday, March 17, 2021, at her home, surrounded by her family.

Ruth, as she was lovingly known, was born on July 14, 1937, to the late James “Jimmy” Walter and Minnie Gertrude Millikan Leonard. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph “Joe” Duncan and her siblings, Ethel Norris, Bobby Mills, Jesse Leonard, Carlton Leonard, Janice Patterson, and Billy Leonard.

A funeral service commemorating Ruth’s life will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Worthington Funeral Home, with Pastor Jonathan Simmons officiating. Interment will follow in the Chadbourn Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1:00-2:45, prior to the service.

To cherish her memory, Ruth leaves behind her children: Peggy Duncan Nobles and husband, Jimmy, of Chadbourn, Joseph Delane Duncan and wife, Janet, of Catawba, Jesse Wayne Duncan of Chadbourn, Darlene Duncan Simmons and husband, Rev. Jonathan, of Chadbourn, and Jimmy Dale Duncan and wife, Donna, also of Chadbourn. Grandchildren include Christina N. Coleman (Tracey), Christopher “Chris” Nobles (Felicia), Deidra Duncan, Casey D. Blue (Cory), and Joshua Simmons (Robin). Ruth also leaves behind eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
