Ada Sealey Gibson-Elkins, age 96 of Whiteville, passed away early morning on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at the Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Center in Whiteville, NC.
Ada was born on July 21, 1924, in Columbus County, to the late Simon Pasley and Lela Fairfax Sealey. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Harlie Gibson and Wilkes Elkins; siblings: Viola Knight, Buddy Sealey, Talmadge Sealey, Oscar Sealey, Carl Sealey, Louise S. Bullard, Davis Sealey, Leola S. Norris and Bobby Gene Sealey (Infant); three half-brothers and a half-sister, Nora S. Graves, Hubert Sealey, Howard Sealey and Robert Sealey; step-children: Clara Elkins Hodge and Norman Elkins.
Funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at Worthington Funeral Home, with Mr. Danny Williams, Dr. Mack Roberts and Rev. Brett Young officiating; Interment will follow in the Chadbourn Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 2:00-2:45, prior to the service.
Ms. Elkins was a dedicated homemaker, farmer, and a cook for the Columbus County Law Enforcement Office for many years. She was a member of Galeed Baptist Church in Bladenboro. Ada loved her family and was known for her biscuit making, which she generously shared with her friends. She also was employed at Cooke's Department Store in Chadbourn for many years.
Survivors include her children: Frances Godwin (Jerry) of Anchorage, Alaska, Linda Strickland (Jerry) of Whiteville, Al Gibson (Nancy) of Whiteville, and Bill "Tub" Gibson (Glenda) also of Whiteville; grandchildren: Angie Wells (Shane), Denise Rigsbee (Scott), Shea Gibson (Nicole), Ryan Gibson (Nicole), Allison Gibson, Jay Godwin (Dora), Tanya Godwin Perkins (Mike); great-grandchildren: Ashley Wells, Michael Wells, Deacon, Elaina, Sadie, Jacob, Jeremy, Joseph, Dale, and three Great-great grandchildren; step-daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Elkins; step-grandchildren: Adam Elkins, Julie Day Rowe (Matt); step-great-grandchildren, Hannah Elkins, Ella Elkins, McKenna Rowe, and one sister, Mavis S. Cribb of Chadbourn.
