Willie Monroe Nance, Sr. age 93 of Evergreen, slipped into eternity on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at Columbus Regional Healthcare System in Whiteville. He honorably served his country in the United States Army during WWII. A native of Columbus County, Will was born on December 31, 1925, to the late James Addie Nance and Jessie Lou Enzor Nance. He was also preceded in death by two sons, Willie Monroe Nance, Jr. and Larry Rufus Nance; six siblings, Leo Nance, George B. Nance, Mary Grace Nance Sanderson, Martha Nance, Carlton Nance and Max Nance. To cherish his memory, Will leaves behind his wife, Joyce Hill Nance of the home; four children, Terry Wayne Nance (Amy) of Fayetteville, Mitchell "Mitch" Ray Nance (Beverlee) of Whiteville, Susie N. Ward (Gene) of Winnabow and John Addie Nance of Raleigh; a daughter-in-law, Sandra N. Nance of Whiteville; 12 grandchildren, Sonya Lawson, Brandt Nance, Kevin Bridger, Trevor Nance, Alexandria Nance, Kameron Nance, Kristopher Nance, Cory Ward, Cody Ward, Meghan Collins, Caitlin Nance and Chelsea Nance; 9 great-grandchildren, Dylan Lawson, Ty Lawson, Aniston Hill, Joanna Nance, Skylah Collins, Rheya Collins, Reid Hester, Rhett Hester and Zander Nance. Final rites will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 10, 2019 at Evergreen United Methodist Church with Reverend Pat Inman and Reverend Tommy Fields officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. on Saturday at Worthington Funeral Home in Chadbourn.
