Steven Elwood Sasser, age 51 of Whiteville passed on Monday, January 1, 2018 at Columbus Regional Healthcare System in Whiteville. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, January 5, 2018 at Whiteville Memorial Cemetery with Pastor Russell Honeycutt officiating. He was the son of the late Grace Rawls Sasser and Cecil Elwood Sasser. He is survived by his wife, Mary Elizabeth "Beth" Sasser of the home; two children, Steven Brian Sasser of Hallsboro and Taylor Renee Sasser of the home; eight siblings, Henry Allen Sasser of Bolton, Patricia Ann S. Stewart of Hallsboro, Deborah S. McPherson of Beaverdam, Willie Cecil Sasser of Hallsboro, Ronnie Preston Sasser of Hallsboro, Karen Lynn S. Coleman of Bolton, Janice S. Duncan of Hallsboro and John Bennie Sasser of Bolton. The family will receive friends at their residence. Worthington Funeral Home in Chadbourn is serving the family.
