Roy Simmons Obituary

Roy "Roger" Rogers Simmons, age 69 of Whiteville, died on Thursday, August 8, 2019 at Columbus Regional Healthcare System in Whiteville. Final rites will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, August 11, 2019 at Worthington Funeral Home with Dr. Tommy Bryson and Reverend Leon Simmons officiating. Interment will follow in the Hosea Simmons Cemetery, Whiteville. The family will receive friends 2:00 p.m. until time of the service on Sunday at Worthington Funeral Home. He was the son of the late Alpha Roosevelt Simmons and Edith Register Simmons. He was also preceded in death by a son, Roger Cale Simmons in 2016; and seven siblings, J.B. Simmons, Vera S. Eastman, Annie S. Welch, Sadie S. Long, James Simmons, Pete Simmons and Ester S. Ward. He honorably served his county in the United States Air Force. To cherish his memory he leaves his wife, Patricia Ann Stone Simmons of the home; a daughter, Tiffany Simmons Long (Gregory) of Whiteville; a brother, Reverend Leon Simmons (Kathy) of Lexington; grandchildren, Kristie Michelle Long, Kayla Lea Baker, Morgan Nycole Simmons, Shyanne Brooke Simmons, Gregory Dylan Long and Makenzie LaCole Long; great-grandchildren, Kingston Cale Simmons, Nisiah Issa Greenleaf and Cannon Cole Simmons.
