Robert Monroe Ellis, age 92 of Riegelwood went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at his home with his family at his side. The family will receive friends 12:00 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Riegelwood Baptist Church with a graveside service following at the Ellis Family Cemetery with Pastor Michael Jackson officiating. He served his country honorably during WWII in the US Army where he met, married, and was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Ines Bergamasco Ellis. He returned first to work on Edmond Farm in Chadbourn, Acme Depot, Riegel Paper Corp, then went on to establish the legacy of Ellis Farm. Mr. Ellis was the son of the late Agnes Britt Ellis and John Dewey Ellis, Sr. He was also preceded in death by nine siblings, Mary Frances Butler, Elouise E. Sellers, J.D. Ellis, Eugene Ellis, Bill Ellis, Joe Ellis, Rosa Mae Ellis, BoBo Ellis and William Ellis. He is survived by a sister, Lillie Mae Ellis Hinson of Chadbourn. He is survived by two sons, Johnny Ellis (Joyce) and Bobby Ray Ellis (Roxanna); two daughters, Rosa E. Atwood (Frank) and Margaret E. Carroll all of Riegelwood; eight grandchildren, Allen Wayne Coston, Chris Coston, Bobby Ray Ellis, Jr., Timothy Ellis, Donna Potter, Kandi Padgett, Brysen Padgett and Amanda Lange; fourteen great-grandchildren, Zachary, Cassidy, Sydney, Emma, Katie, Summer, Carey, Trey, Hanna, Tiffany, T.J., Emily, Alex and Samantha. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Columbus County Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 206 Warrior Trail, Whiteville, NC 28472. Worthington Funeral Home in Chadbourn is serving the family.
