Rev. Billy Gardner

Rev. Billy William Gardner, age 78 of Chadbourn, earned the great reward, meeting his Lord on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Lifecare Center in Whiteville, while surrounded by his family.

Born on February 23, 1941, he was the son of the late Robert Leslie Gardner and Nina Denton Gardner. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Joseph Gene Gardner and Carl Ray Gardner.

Funeral Services commemorating Rev. Billy's life will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, June 28, 2019 at Worthington Funeral Home in Chadbourn. Rev. Danny Williams, Rev. Danny Jeffers, and Rev. George Lashley will be officiating. Interment will follow in the Wards Station Church of God Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:30-2:45, prior to the service on Friday.

Billy was a humble and kindhearted man. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. Mr. Gardner was an avid carpenter and a true man of God. He loved his Lord and Savior and never hesitated to share the gospel with others; Billy was the former Pastor of Wards Station Church of God, having served as minister there for several years.

To cherish his memory, Billy leaves behind his devoted and loving wife of 60 year, "Lois" Robinson Gardner of the home; daughters, Angela G. Duncan and husband, Mark of Chadbourn, "Jenny" G. Pennington and husband, Robert of Chadbourn; siblings, Linda G. Raper (J.W.) of Kenly, Kay G. Carter (Richard) of Wilson, Tommy Denton (Lorene) of Suffolk, VA; grandchildren, Cory Duncan, Melissa Watts (Danny), Tanya Lee (Jason), Nikki Pennington (Eric); great-grandchildren, Olivia Watts. Joshua Watts, Jadon Lee, Kynlee Nealey, Ethan Nealey.
