Mitchell Ray Piver, age 70 of Whiteville, entered into rest on Thursday, September 19, 2019 at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Angel House in Whiteville. He was born on May 14, 1949 to the late James Harry Piver, Sr and Linnie Mae Ward Piver and was also preceded in death by a son, Patrick Delane Bullard and five siblings, Hubert Piver, J.T. Piver, Harry James "Junior" Piver, Margaret Vick and Virginia Dare Taylor; and a great-grandchild, Daniel. Mr. Piver was employed by Georgia Pacific (Chip & Saw Division) in Whiteville for 35 years. A funeral service commemorating Mr. Pivers life will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 22, 2019 at Cornerstone Original Free Will Baptist Church with Dr. Tommy Bryson officiating. Interment will follow in the Hosea Simmons Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00, Saturday evening at Worthington Funeral Home in Chadbourn. Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Mable Catherine Bowen Piver of the home; children, Theresa Bullard Davis (David) of Wilmington, Sue Bullard Irving of Nakina, Michael Bullard (Kitty) of Chadbourn and Sandra Bullard Blake of Willard; siblings, Vera Mae Simmons of Ash, Evelyn Surles of Whiteville, Marie Ward of Whiteville, Ramona "Moonie" Puckett of Calabash and James Elbert "Buck" Piver of Whiteville and Bobby Dean Piver of Hawthorne, FL; 7 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
