Melvadean Carteret Bass, age 57 of Lake Waccamaw, passed away peacefully, while surrounded by her family on Saturday March 9, 2019 at Lower Cape Fear and Life Care Center in Whiteville. Born on October 13, 1961 in Columbus County, she was the daughter of the late Azier Carteret and Dorcas "Dot" Hammond Carteret. A Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at Worthington Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Willard McPherson and Reverend Sam McCleary officiating. The Family will receive friend from 6:00-8:00 Monday evening at Worthington Funeral Home in Chadbourn. Melvadean had a humble spirit and a loving, tender smile that she humbly offered to everyone she came in contact with. Survivors include her children, Aaron B. Bass of Montana, April N. Bass (Steven Duncan) of Green Sea; siblings, Ronald Carteret (Lorrie) of Chadbourn, Linda C. Stevens (Herman) of Tabor City, Gail C. Ward (John Howard) of Clarendon; sister-in-law, Angeleen Pinyan (Terry) of Chadbourn, brother-in-law, Joseph Bass (Cindy) of Florence; April and Aarons father, Dewayne Bass; four grandchildren, Austin Bass, Dalton McDowell, Hailie Bass, and Bayden Bass. The Bass family wishes to thank Dr. Richard Berry, Dr. Hughe Daniel, Beverley Lassane, Premier Living Healthcare, the CRHS fifth floor staff, and the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Angel House for their loving care shown to Melvadean during a time when it was much needed.
