Mazie Ellis Obituary

Ms. Mazie Gause Ellis, age 92 of Cerro Gordo, departed from this earth on Thursday, June 20, 2019 at Liberty Commons Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born on January 23, 1927 in Columbus County, she was the daughter of the late George Memory Gause and Vernia Edwards Gause. Along with her parents, Mazie was also preceded in death by her sister, Magaline Herndon and her children, Joseph B. Fipps, Jr., Judy Carol Meares, Wanda Kay Fipps. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 23, 2019 at Worthington Memorial Chapel, with Pastor Tim Moore officiating. Interment will follow in the Porter Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2:00-3:00 p.m., prior to the service on Sunday. Survivors include her son, Lynn Fipps (Terri) of Cerro Gordo; grandchildren, Misty Russell, Sean Meares, Cody Fipps; great-grandchildren, Aaron Russell, Bradley Russell, Cameron Russell, Audrey Meares and her sister, Eva G. Grooms of Hamlet. A service of Worthington Funeral Home in Chadbourn.
