ATLANTA, Ga. -- MacMillian "Rea" Grainger, 31, died May 27, 2019 in Atlanta, where he earned a masters degree at Georgia Institute of Technology. Rea was the son of Barry Rea Grainger of North Myrtle Beach, S.C. and the late Annette Brown Grainger. He was the grandson of the late F.M. Sr. and Ethel Williamson Brown and Dennis Rea and Carolyn Boyd Grainger of Chadbourn. He was preceded in death by an uncle, F.M. Brown Jr. A graduate of West Brunswick High School, Rea received his bachelors degree in International Studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He worked as a healthcare consultant across the country. A memorial service for MacMillian "Rea" Grainger will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3 at Chadbourn Presbyterian Church, 600 E. First Avenue. The family will gather with friends afterward for a celebration of life at 703 North Elm Street, Chadbourn. Worthington Funeral Home, Chadbourn, is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Carolina Covenant General Fund at UNC-Chapel Hill, which provides scholarships with the promise of a world-class and debt-free education.
