Lonnie Mae Pait Batten, age 91 of Whiteville went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Angel House in Whiteville. Born on October 29, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Will Pait and Sallie Hester Pait. She was also preceded in death by two children, Larry Batten and Hattie "Brady" Watts; four siblings, Joe Pait, Fred Pait, Annie Mae Singletary and Vera Bryan. To cherish her memory, Mrs. Batten leaves behind three daughters, Shirley Marshall of Roanoke, VA, Sandra Berdeaux (David) of Tucson, Arizona, Kathy Soles (Terry) of Whiteville; two sons, Sammy Batten (Louise) of Fayetteville and Willie Batten of Hallsboro; two siblings, Louise Butler of Bladenboro and Will Pait, Jr. of Southern Pines; 16 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren. Final rites will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Worthington Funeral Home in Chadbourn with Reverend Tony Ripley officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Bladenboro. The family will receive friends 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm Sunday (one hour prior to the service) at Worthington Funeral Home in Chadbourn.
