Lewis Delane Garrell

Lewis Delane Garrell, age 75 of Whiteville, entered into rest on Monday, February 4, 2019, at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, NC. Born & raised in Columbus County, Mr. Garrell was the son of the late Lewis Charles "LC" Garrell and Sarah Hammond Garrell. Also, preceding Mr. Garrell in death was a sister, Janice G. Strauss. Lewis honorably served his county serving in the United States Navy. Survivors include his wife, JoAnn Britt Garrell of the home; children, Kimberly G. Staley and husband, Bobby of Greensboro, Melissa D. Fowler and husband, Jeff of Wilmington, Delane Garrell of Greensboro, Lisa Ward Cain and husband, Phillip of Myrtle Beach; siblings, Patricia "Pat" Garrell of Lake Waccamaw and Linda Chenier of Supply. Mr. Garrell also leaves behind 7 Grandchildren and 3 Great-Grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Worthington Funeral Home with Pastor Donald Conway and Reverend Myles Cartrette officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm until time of the service on Saturday.
