Edith Virginia Thompson VanLehn, age 92 of Michigan and formally of Whiteville, met her maker on Thursday, April 18, 2019 at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan, while surrounded by her loving family. Born on January 19, 1927 in Columbus County, she was the daughter of the late William Luther Thompson, Sr. and Lizzie Martin Thompson. Along with her parents, Edith was also preceded in death by her husband, Alton Williamson; two siblings, William Luther Thompson, Jr. and Mary Loil Thompson Honeycutt. Survivors include her three children, Ronald VanLehn of Olathe, Kansas, Sandra Noon of Statesville, NC, Michael VanLehn and his wife, Patty of Troy, Michigan; three sisters, Opal T. Pope of Mechanicsville, VA, Barbara T. Horne of Easley, SC, and Dorothy "Dot" T. Ward of Whiteville; seven Grandchildren, eight Great-Grandchildren and a Great-Great-Grandson. Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, April 27, 2019 at Worthington Funeral Home with Reverend Floyd Parker officiating. Interment will follow in Union Valley Baptist Church Cemetery, Whiteville, NC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Worthington Funeral Home is honorably serving the family.
