Dorothy Strickland Obituary

Dorothy Blackwell Strickland, age of 82 of Cerro Gordo and Ocean Isle Beach, finished her journey here on earth on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Angel House in Whiteville. A native of Columbus County, she was born on July 5, 1936 and was the daughter of the late James Corbett Blackwell, Sr. and Dora B. Blackwell. She was also preceded in death by five siblings, James C. Blackwell, Jr., Alvie Blackwell, Curtis Blackwell, Azalie Sagendorph, and Daisy Blackwell. She is survived by a sister, Alene Blackwell Winfree of Charlotte; and many nieces and nephews. Services celebrating Dorothy's life will be conducted at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at the Columbus Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be held from 3:30-4:30, at the Mausoleum.
