Doris Jewell Butler Honeycutt

Doris Jewell Butler Honeycutt, age 89 of Chadbourn, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at New Hanover House in Wilmington. A native of Columbus County, Doris was born on June 7, 1930 to the late George Vernon Butler and Bessie Avant Butler. Ms. Honeycutt was the widow of Leroy Honeycutt, her beloved husband of 69 years. Doris was also preceded in death by her siblings, Thurston Butler, Herman Butler, Paul Woods and Betty Stevens. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at the Chadbourn Baptist Church with Dr. David Vess officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Doris was a devoted member of over 65 years to Chadbourn Baptist Church, of which she attended faithfully. Ms. Honeycutt loved her Lord and enjoyed performing various task and roles in the church. During her working years, she was a teacher assistant and also worked in the banking industry. Most of all, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to her family. She was "Aunt Doris" not only to her nieces and nephews but to so many within the community. Her dedication to church, family, and community were significant and will truly be missed. To cherish her memory, she leaves a daughter, Ann Honeycutt of Chadbourn; two grandchildren, Mark Peterson and Julie Nobles (Greg), all of Wilmington and one great-granddaughter, Mia Grace Nobles, also of Wilmington and extended family.
