Cecil Harris

Cecil Harris age 78 of Clarendon passed on Thursday at his residence with his family by his side. Final rites will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Bethel United Methodist Church with the Reverend Ricky Parker officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethel Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Worthington Funeral Home in Chadbourn is serving the family. He was the son of the late Meta Ward Harris and Chester Harris and the husband of the late, Roberta "Bert" Gore Harris; and was preceded in death by a brother David Ray Harris. He was employed by National Spinning for 36 years and was a retired farmer. He is survived by a daughter, Rachel Rebecca Harris Tyson and her husband, Jon of Whiteville; a son, Matthew Cecil Harris and his wife, Michele of Clarendon; three siblings, Willard A. Harris and his wife, Ruth of Chadbourn, Janice H. Byrd and her husband, Roger of Lake Waccamaw and Sarah H. Roberts of Charlotte; four grandchildren, Cory Harris and his wife, Cassie, Kayla T. McCormick and her husband, Kelly, Miranda Harris and Kady Tyson. Memorials may be made to Community Hospice, 16 Whites Crossing Lane, Whiteville, NC 28472.
