Anita Lousie White Barfield

Anita Louise White Barfield, age 82 of Chadbourn, went to Heaven on Wednesday, March 13, 2019. She was born December 12, 1936 to Edward Azure White and Polly Jane Ward White. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Evelyn White Walker, Cherry Mae White Walker Fowler, and brother, Audrey White. During her life as wife and mother, she was also secretary, accountant, Head Start Teacher, cook at Columbus County Sheriffs Department, where she was known for her hand-made biscuits. She especially enjoyed her work as a genealogist. She and her husband, "Mack" along with Phil and Kay Duncan, spent several years locating, mapping and documenting cemeteries of Columbus County, which resulted in local book publishings. She is survived by her husband since November 25, 1955, Richard "Mack" Barfield and their children, Deborah Barfield (David), Doreen Nance (Jimmy), Donna Boswell (Tony), Fred Barfield (Jennifer), as well as nine Grandchildren and eight Great-Grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank all those who helped care for her. Our most humble gratitude goes to Lower Cape Fear Hospice in Whiteville, as they helped us navigate this time and provided Mama with the most loving and respectful care. Visitation will be held from 1:30-3:00 on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at China Grove Missionary Baptist Church, with the Funeral service starting at 3:00; Dr. Darrin Moore will officiate the services. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Worthington Funeral Home of Chadbourn are providing their excellent and loving, professional services.
